Google Universal: Friend or Foe?

Google’s switch in May to Universal Search
has more than a few marketers awash with panic over loss of rankings –
and understandably so – since some have lost visibility due to other
digital content such as video, images, or blogs, etc. occupying
valuable real estate within the search results.

Hospitality Net – Industry News – Managing Your Hotel’s Online Reputation Takes Time and a Real Commitment | By Richard Walsh, Vice President, Lodging Interactive

Social media websites and blogs have rapidly become an important part
of any effective Internet marketing strategy. Why? Simply because these
websites are where people are talking about your hotel and your
services and there is no better advertising media than “word of mouth”.
As the hotelier or director of marketing, your challenge is to know
what the buzz is and adding your own buzz. Clearly, the prospective
hotel guests who visit these sites, and this number is growing daily,
will definitely respond to consumer online chatter more than to a paid
advertisement.

MySpaceTV – Look Who’s Chasing YouTube

Today MySpace re-launched its video sharing site, renaming it MySpaceTV.  The New York Times
reports that this is a serious attempt by News Corp, the owner of
MySpace, to challenge YouTube. Users of the new service do not have to
be signed in as members of the MySpace community to share their videos.
This feature should in fact attract new users to MySpace and expand its
reach for quality video content and viewers

Stirring the Pot with Viral Marketing and Social Websites

I am quite certain that this is not going to be the first article
that you’ve read or seen on Web 2.0, viral marketing, or social media
sites. And, if you are lucky, it won’t be the last. These are huge
topics to cover with a lot of different angles to consider. But one
thing seems to really stand out about each of these things: opportunity.

Web 2.0 and social media websites lend themselves to extremely
powerful viral marketing campaigns (specifically link baiting campaigns
–don’t worry, I’ll explain) and every day savvy marketers are devising
campaigns that add to the value of these social media sites while
driving unthinkable traffic to their sites.

The money is in the list? Maybe.  But I know there is money in those social media sites.
